Introduction

I am Shanna, or in the world of roller skating, Fly By Birdie, Birdie, or #63!
I began playing roller derby with the Bradentucky Bombers in Bradenton, FL in 2014.

Within less than a season I obtained two hip injuries and was told to quit derby.
Well, I was scared!
My Chiropractor was telling me I was going to need a hip replacement by 30 if I kept it up....
So, I quit skating altogether.
Now...I could never imagine a world without roller skating!

I began skating again when I participated in the Smoky Mountain Rollergirls' bootcamp in the fall of 2017.

I passed assessments and joined the team officially in January of 2018.

I currently skate at least twice a week at practice.
However, my skates usually are on the street, at the skate park, on the track, or in the rink as well.

By day I am a teacher.
I quit my career in retail management November of 2016 to pursue my teaching career and go back to college.
The hardest thing is to watch the children you have grown to love and care for all year, graduate preschool.
Although I love being an assistant teacher in NC Pre-K, I have been looking forward to leading my own classroom.

Thankfully, I just received a promotion as a lead teacher of a two-year-old classroom and I am excited for this new journey.

I attend Haywood Community College and will graduate with my AAS in Early Childhood Education Spring of 2019.
I plan on pursuing a BK and/or a masters in administration.

I often garden and landscape my property, which my fiance and I moved into on October 31, 2015.

While working on our 1925 farmhouse I loosley balance my life as a fur-mom, teacher, gardener, and derby girl.

As I move toward my late 20's, I am excited to see where this journey takes me!
